We've had some sunshine and melthing this morning, but I guess it's a false prelude to weather planned for this evening and tomorrow. Here's an early morning National Weather Service bulletin:

winter storm warning in effect from 2 pm this afternoon
to midnight pst thursday night above 6500 feet...
the national weather service in san diego has issued
a winter storm warning above 6500 feet for heavy snow
and blowing snow ...which is in effect from 2 pm this afternoon
to midnight pst thursday night.
timing: this afternoon and evening with additional
periods of heavy snowfall through thursday evening.
total snow accumulations: 1 to 3 feet
winds: southwest 20 to 30 mph at times with gusts to 45 mph.
snow levels: mostly around 6000 feet through midday Thursday
...then lowering to 4000 to 4500 feet thursday night.
impacts: heavy snowfall and near zero visibility in fog and
blowing and drifting snow will cause hazardous driving conditions.
