Winter Storm warning for above 7,000 ft

We will keep readers posted about the weather conditions and forecasts
for Idyllwild all week. this is the first for Monday, but more will follow.

Please be advised that the ICRC speaker program, Peter Lent, Riverside
county OES, scheduled for Wednesday evening has been canceled.

.A PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING HEAVY SNOW
TO THE MOUNTAINS
ABOVE 7000 FEET LATE THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH THIS EVENING.

TO
MIDNIGHT PST TONIGHT ABOVE 7000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING ABOVE 7000 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW
...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO MIDNIGHT PST
TONIGHT.

* TIMING: HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED THIS EVENING.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF
8 TO 16 INCHES ARE
POSSIBLE ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH LOCALLY
GREATER AMOUNTS ON THE
HIGHEST PEAKS.

* WINDS: AREAS OF SOUTHWEST WINDS 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS
TO 55
MPH AT TIMES.

* SNOW LEVELS: SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER TO AROUND 7000 FEET
BY LATE
AFTERNOON...AND TO AROUND 6000 FEET
DURING THE EVENING.


* IMPACTS: HEAVY SNOWFALL AND STRONG WINDS WITH BLOWING
AND
DRIFTING SNOW WILL CAUSE VERY HAZARDOUS
