cold front this afternoon. southwest winds will also
gradually increase this afternoon with gusts to
55 mph possible...especially along the ridges and
over the desert slopes. dense fog and blowing
snow will reduce visibility to near zero at times.

remains in effect until midnight pst thursday night
above 5500 feet... a winter storm warning remains in
effect until midnight pst thursday night above 5500 feet.
timing: this evening with additional periods of
heavy snowfall through thursday evening.
total snow accumulations: 1 to 3 feet
winds: southwest 20 to 30 mph at times
with gusts to 45 mph.
snow levels: mostly around 5000 feet through
midday thursday... then lowering to 4000 feet thursday night.
impacts: heavy snowfall and near zero visibility
in fog and blowing and drifting snow will cause hazardous
driving conditions.
precautionary/preparedness actions... a winter storm
warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant
amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. only travel in an emergency. if you must
travel...keep an extra flashlight... food...and water
in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
